Spread across 20 hectares within the Kothaguda Reserve Forest Block, Pala Pitta Cycle Park is a prominent eco-friendly destination in Hyderabad. Named after Telangana’s state bird, the Indian Roller (Pala Pitta or Blue Jay), the park features a picturesque setting of rocky terrain, serene water bodies, and lush greenery. Peacocks, India’s national bird, are frequently sighted, enriching the natural experience for visitors.
Previously dominated by Eucalyptus and Subabul plantations, the park underwent a significant transformation in 2022. These non-native species were removed due and in their place native plants were introduced, fostering biodiversity and enhancing the ecological value of the park.
The park’s 2.7-kilometer circular cycle track offers cyclists a refreshing journey, including a scenic 300-meter stretch along the tank bund. Maps and distance indicators placed at critical points provide clear navigation, while a separate cycle track for children ensures safety and inclusivity.
The fresh air, the melodious sounds of peacocks, and the uniquely designed curved tracks make cycling here a distinctive experience. The park’s thoughtfully crafted logo has gained attention across social media platforms, contributing to its growing popularity. Additionally, the park serves as a hub for environmental awareness, hosting special cycling events on key environmental theme days to promote sustainability and conservation.
